Managing Your Time Effectively

  05/31/2017

It’s not easy managing your time while at a university. Students are expected to attend class, study for tests, complete assignments, partake in extracurricular activities, study abroad, participate in internships, possibly join Greek life, and maintain a work-life balance all while making friends.

We know that time is limited at college, which is why we’re going to provide 4 time management tips for navigating your time at college like a pro.

  1. Block Courses

It may seem like a good idea to scatter your classes throughout the week; but if possible, you want to block your courses. It’ll give you bigger chunks of study time and will prevent travel tips to campus for singular courses. By the end of the semester, it’s going to be hard to motivate yourself to get to campus for your one solo class Thursday nights at 6 PM.

  1. Night or Morning Person?

This is for you to figure out. Some people are a mixture of the two, but most people strongly identify with one or the other. If you’re a night owl, be sure to book your classes later in the day so you don’t flunk your morning exams. For morning folks, take advantage of those 8 AM classes.

  1. Don’t Procrastinate

Take it from us: do your homework once it’s assigned. If you manage to squeeze some through every week, you won’t be crying from the end-of-semester workload.

  1. Balance the Courses

Don’t stack your 4 hardest classes of your major in one singular semester. Instead, spread out the difficult courses one per semester for your 4-years at college. You’ll be able to devote extra time to it and won’t feel overwhelmed with the study loads.

By following these four tips, navigating a year at college will be entirely possible for you.
