Stress Management: How to Stay Calm, Cool, and Collected
06/14/2017
We all hear about the horror stress problems that come with being a college student. Movies and TV shows glamorize the all-nighters and partying that drastically cut into school performance. However, it is definitely possible to manage your stress while at college.
We want you to stay calm, cool, and collected amidst a heavy college workload. Here’s how:
- Sleep: We can’t emphasize this enough. Sleep is seriously underrated when it comes to college performance. Living in a dorm means constant temptation to stay up with friends and mess around. Try and establish a sleep schedule that both you and your roommate can agree to.
- Nutrients: College resident food isn’t exactly nutrient-rich. Try and go to the local grocery store and buy healthy snacks and vitamins that ensure you’re at top energy performance every day.
- Exercise: Don’t be another Freshman15 statistic. College has plenty of physical exercise options. Join a club or intramural sports team, or visit the resident gym when you can.
- Avoid Casual Drinking: Drinking is inevitable at college, but try not to make it a daily occurrence. Casual drinking is what oftentimes leads to alcoholism once college is complete.
- Support: You need a support team behind you at college. Text your parents, find friends at school who are there for you, and connect with your favorite professors. Having this support team to fall back on will help you during your most stressful periods.
Of course, avoid drugs, hazing, and unnatural energy boosters as well to ensure you stay happy and healthy throughout your college career. Manage your stress with these 5 tips today.
