07/03/2017
There are not many people out there who don’t dearly dread a job interview. As an awkward experience for both the employer and the interviewee, job interviews come with a lot of hallow pressure that can make just about any introvert quiver in their shoes.
The good news is, like most things, if you practice and come prepared, you’ll feel better about your performance with the interviewer. Here are 6 job interview tips to help you land your dream job:
- Research: With the Internet, it’s not hard to research a company today. Do your homework and write down a few stats about the company you can drop in the interview.
- Explore connections: LinkedIn is a great place to see if you have any second or third degree connections with this company. If you do, be sure to reach out to these individuals and let them know you’re sitting with an interview. Chances are, they’ll put in a good word for you.
- Prepare questions: A lot of questions are easy to anticipate: why did you choose us? Where do you see yourself in 5-years? What are your strongest attributes? And the list goes on. Always remember: practice makes perfect.
- Map it out: Don’t stress about showing up on time. Map out the entire route the day before so you’re entirely prepared.
- Be positive: Regardless of how nervous and jittery you may feel, be sure to act incredibly positive and grateful throughout the entire process. Your interviewer will be able to tell otherwise.
- Follow-up: It’s not over once the interview is complete. Be sure to follow-up that week regarding an answer from the employer.
Interviews can make the most extroverted of people nervous. Follow these steps for staying calm, cool, and collected.
