4 Tips For Balancing Career and Family
07/19/2017
Balancing career and family is something that becomes a shocking reality for many as they merge into the early 30s. What was once an easy career plus personal life concern gets pushed to the side when a family is started. As a result, millions are constantly worrying if they’re balancing their career and family life as favorably as possible.
Here are 4 tips for balancing your career and fledgling family:
- Morning Conversation:
When you wake up each morning, don’t immediately go into “serious work mode.” The mornings are a time to be cherished with your spouse and children. Instead of putting on the suit, grabbing a piece of toast, and not even giving your kids a kiss, take an hour to slow down and smell the roses. Have conversations with your family members.
- Spousal Workouts:
This is a great way to get in bonding time with your spouse while also devoting an hour to fitness before work. Develop a 6AM running routine in which you both workout and get in some cardio together before the kids wake up. It’s a great way to share a bond.
- Family Text Threads:
Obviously, don’t jeopardize your career by texting all day long at your desk. However, make a family thread that you contribute to a few times per day so everyone feels like their accomplishments are being recognized. Plus, it’s a great way to take a mini-break from your workload.
- Clarify Expectations:
Don’t be one of those employees that work terribly hard to shelter your personal life from your employer. Be sure they are fully aware that you have young children and personal expectations from your spouse. The more you clarify these boundaries, the more your employers will respect them.
It’s possible to have it all. Be sure to prioritize your family.
