Effective Ways to Travel Cheaply in Your 20s

  07/24/2017

Every 20-year-old post-college deems vacationing and traveling as an unaffordable commodity they’ll have to wait for after a few years at work. With some careful planning and attention to detail, however, it’s possible to travel on a reasonable budget.

Here are some of the most effective ways to travel cheaply in your 20s:

– Hostels:

Do note, not all hostels are safe or clean. That’s why you need to put in some homework. Hostels offer a lot of different budgets and sleeping accommodations. We recommend going for the 2-4 person room arrangements as opposed to the 10-person. Also, do be sure to keep all your valuable belongings on you during the day.

– Workaway:

Thanks to the gig economy today, you can make some money on the road. Whether it’s freelancing on Fiverr.com, collaborating on Instagram, or contributing to travel blogs, you can make a dime while you’re on the road. Consider your options and how they can supplement your budget during the trip.

– Airbnb:

Airbnb is one of the best things to happen to young travelers today. It provides verified hosts with reviews so you can know exactly what you’re getting into. Some Airbnbs can be expensive, but some can be incredibly affordable, around $40 per night. Do be sure to check out how safe the surrounding neighborhood is, however.

– Jobs Abroad:

If you’re someone who prioritizes travel above all else, perhaps it’s time to consider a job abroad – or a job that will send you abroad with payment. There are a lot of worldly organizations, cruises, and businesses that are looking for international individuals right now. Bonus if you can speak more than one language.

Don’t feel discouraged! Traveling in your 20s is a definite possibility.
