How to Make Confident Decisions in Your 20s
08/14/2017
This is probably the biggest dilemma 20-year-olds face moving into the real world. They’re thrust into it, whether directly out of college, or following their carefree stint as teenagers. All of the sudden, it’s up to you to make choices, and to make the right ones. Not to mention, it’s up to you to make decisions that you feel confidently about. Only with this satisfaction will you have the encouragement to keep making it happen as your 20s wear on.
Narrow the Choices
Human beings get very easily overloaded when presented with multiple options for a singular problem. If there’s more than one solution, we often think to ourselves, how do I identify the right one? This same concept holds true for your 20s. You need to narrow the choices staring you down and stressing you out. If there are 4 different career paths you want to pursue, it’s time to figure out of the 4, which 2 are your real favorites.
Do the same thing for cities you want to live in, lifestyle changes you want to make, and the list goes on.
Don’t Be Afraid to Fail
The millennial generation is quintessentially characterized by the fear of rejection. Millennials are afraid of being rejected by spouses, careers, friends, and coworkers. This fear can detrimentally set someone back in life. It’s important to know that failure is a completely normal part of life and adulthood, and that being afraid to fail will actually keep you from living out your full potential.
Do Your Homework
Believe it or not, homework didn’t just disappear with school. The concept of homework is a forever-phenomenon you need to embrace. If there’s a job you want, or a situation you’re unsure about, thanks to the Internet, you have all the information you could ever need. All of you have to do is take the time to find it.
It’s possible to be a confident 20-year-old. Put in the time and effort.
