5 Ways to Pursue a Healthier Diet
08/30/2017
When we get busy, we tend to lose focus on what we’re eating. We become more consumed in the task at hand and less preoccupied with what we’re eating to satisfy our hunger levels. Naturally, we end up consuming fattening, low-vitamin items that contribute to fatigue, weight gain, and low energy.
In order to stay at the top of your game, here are 5 ways to pursue a healthier diet:
- Fruits & Veggies:
You’ve heard your mom say it and we’re going to say it again: make sure there are fruits and vegetables in every single one of your meals. This is where most of your vitamins in a given day come from. Without them, you’re going to feel weak and sluggish.
- Starchy Carbs:
Starchy carbs, like brown rice and quinoa, are actually good for you. Eating white bread all day is not. Starchy carbs fill you without the sugar and give you a good base for a day full of energy.
- No Saturated Fats:
There are fats and then there are saturated fats. Healthy fats, like avocados and nuts, are actually important for a balanced diet. Saturated fats, like the oils found in poptarts, are not. They go straight to the fat molecules in your body. - Less Salt:
Salt makes you bloated, tired, and soaks up all of your water. If you’re dehydrated, you’re going to perform more slowly. Drink more water and cut out the salt if possible.
- Get Active:
To complement eating well: get out there and start moving! Whether it’s biking, walking, hiking, or going to the gym, your body will thank you.
