5 Reasons You Should Travel in Your 20s

  09/15/2017

Your professor, mother, and internship manager may all be advising against travel excursions for you in your 20s. They argue that the responsible thing to do is immediately begin your career path before your classmates pass you by. This limited worldview fails to take in all of the advancements in technology we have at our fingertips today, and how travel can add a value to your life that nothing else can.

Here are 5 reasons why you should travel in your 20s:

  1. You’re Still Free:

You’re not tied down yet. When you have children, a mortgage, and car payments coming in every month, it’s pretty hard to step away from it all on a month-long excursion. This is the only time in your life you’re free. Take advantage.

  1. Money Isn’t Everything:

You’re not about to retire. Be responsible and set aside savings every month. It’s ok to still treat yourself and venture out to see all the beauty in the world.

  1. Culture:

It’s one thing to read about a culture or a people unfamiliar to you. It’s another to immerse yourself in a world you’ve never known. Only by experience will you be able to alter your perceptions and develop ideas that would have otherwise remained dormant.

  1. Connections:

The most incredible people on our planet are scattered throughout the world right now. By connecting with these people, you can build relationships, job prospects, and even personal relationships for years to come.

  1. It’s Cheaper:
When you’re 24-years-old, you don’t mind sleeping in a hostel or on a couch. When you’re 60, you’re going to mind a lot more. Take advantage of your physical youth.

Ready to set out on an adventure all your own? Now is the time.
