How to Make Good Life Choices in Your 20s
11/08/2017
You know the time old saying, “Make good choices!” Parents shout it across the country to their children as they depart for their first day of school or college. If making good choices during your youth were easy, there probably wouldn’t be thousands of books and articles on the topic.
The truth of the matter is: making good life choices is not always easy or obvious.
Here are some tips for identifying those right choices as they come your way:
- Prioritize The Big Stuff:
Your 20s are not a time to procrastinate anymore. Instead of a term paper, now it’s a rental payment. You can’t push the big stuff to the side. The longer you do, the bigger the hole you’re digging for yourself. In order to avoid a situation like this, it’s recommended you manage the big stuff, no matter how painful.
- Learn From The Past:
Remember in college when you spoke back to a teacher during class and your grade suffered as a result? Use that lesson when starting your new job. Don’t challenge your boss in front of everyone. Bite your tongue, and wait for an appropriate time to chitchat.
- Know What You Don’t Know:
Nobody likes a pompous 25-year-old. Truth of the matter is: there’s a lot you don’t know yet. Instead of acting like you have it all together, saddle up with some humbleness. People will be much more likely to help you and depart their wisdom with you. - Stick With Your Choices:
Once you make them, it’s important to see them through. Only then can you learn from their results and make changes down the line. It’s not time to be wishy-washy anymore.
Ready to make those good choices? It is possible, believe it or not.
